Outlook Express 6.0 Missing Mail

Windows XP Pro - I use outlook express, and I kep finding that some of my
mails dissappear - but only from my Inbox? A month ago I lost about 6 moths
mail - but it kept the most mails before that - ie last few years, and last
few days - so just a chunk in the recent past went missing. Now I have just
lost the last months - except the last few days? Have checked the Deleted,
and also the SPAM messages as I use Spambully3 - any ideas? Where can I find
my missing mails? Why is it happening?

The experts in an Outlook Express newsgroup can probably
help you. This newsgroup, as its name says, looks at WinXP
issues.

Avoiding Such Corruption in Future:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently
perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is
automatically compacting your message store.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.
