Greetings,

I am using outlook 2002 (10.4608.4219) SP-2 on my windows
XP professional machine. I have a recurring problem. This
used to happen some time about 8 months ago and now it is
surfacing again.

I use the outlook as a POP3 client reading my email from a
UNIX POP3 server. I also have another account on it that
is connected to a Microsoft Exchange server. The exchange
account is used only for calendaring tasks and not emails.

Recently, when I launch the outlook, it first asks for
permission to exchange security certificates with the
servers. Upon approval, there are occasions when it fails
to contact server and displays and error icon in the lower
right part of the outlook application.

When it connects successfully to the server, occasionally
it downloads duplicates of the emails that it had already
downloaded to the inbox during previous sessions. This
repeats if I shut down outlook and restart it again.

What could be the problem? Why the client is not able to
remember that it had downloaded these emails from server
before? Please help . it is becoming very annoying ..

Thank you in advance.

Ashraf.

Probably one ot two reasons:

1. You may have instructed outlook to leave the message instead of deleting
when downloaded.
2. You may have a misconfugured rule so that the message is being directed
into more than one folder on reception.
