Dear All

i've a configuration with Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003 server in a local
lan.

For just one user, it happens that when he close pc, at restart outook says
that last time was closed in incorrectly mode and it nead to run a check up
of mailbox.

Microsoft Desktop Search and Blackberry Desktop Manager are always running
on user's desktop that has got Windows XP.

Other users have the same configuration. What is different is that this
users has got 7,5 gb of OST files (size is after running ost compression). I
read that OST could have max size of 20gb.

Do you think that ost size could could be the issue for this crash ??
Thank you for your attention.

Best Regards
Edoardo

Size probably not. What integrates with Outlook is the more probable cause.
Basically what is happening is that Outlook is being held open at time of
shutting down/rebooting the workstation. Since the OST file is not being
closed properly because the OS isn't going to wait for the apps to close
correctly, the file is left in a "dirty" state and Outlook is always going
to force a check at next start just to make sure it is okay.

What I would do is not only look at the two applications you listed as
probable cause, but look at other things like security (antivirus) software,
Internet Explorer toolbars (Google, MSN, .etc that comes with desktop
search), Adobe PDF creation tools, .etc that can also play a role in not
letting Outlook shutdown in a clean fashion.
