outlook connector stopped working

hello group,

my outlook connector stopped working from sometime at night of tuesday 7/22.
the last email i received by the connector was 6:15PM PDT 7/22. the first
email i didnt receive was 11:04PM PDT. i didnt change any outlook/office
related settings during the time.

now if i click the "Server Status" button, outlooks shows:

Mail: Connecting
Calendar: Connecting
Contact: Connecting

the "Detailed Report" just shows:

have you restarted outlook since then?

unfortunately this time is not one of the "many times". i logged off and back
on, no luck. then rebooted my vista. still the same.

the server status is "connecting" forever.

many times the errors resolve themselves.

have you restarted outlook since then?

found the answer in another thread by Matthew Gargett. there is a new outlook
connector 12.1 beta just released yesterday. the build # is 12.0.6237.1003.

i *HATE* to be forced to upgrade this way.

unfortunately this time is not one of the "many times". i logged off and back
on, no luck. then rebooted my vista. still the same.

the server status is "connecting" forever.

Thanks for that beta info... it would be nice if somebody would have let us know that we needed to upgrade instead of just letting us sit with our thumbs up our butts. :!:

I installed the beta, but now one of my accounts continually shows the
following when I click on Server Status:
Error in Calendar
Synchronization error.

My other account works fine!

This error message shows on Outlook when you are accessing a free Hotmail or
Windows Live account; if this is NOT a free account, you should contact MS
Support. Free accounts will allow mail access but not calendar updates to
Outlook; I hope this helps you.

It is not a free account, but all efforts to contact support have failed.
Every time I try to log on, it rejects the product ID.

This error message shows on Outlook when you are accessing a free Hotmail or
Windows Live account; if this is NOT a free account, you should contact MS

That doesn't surprise me (either that it didn't recognize the product ID or
that you sense that all efforts at getting customer support failed).

I was able to leave a message on the Office Live support site which was VERY
promptly answered by a MS tech who solved one of my issues (although I had to
tell HIM about the new version of Connector). More important to me was that
my Office Live account appeared to have been CANCELED which he explained was
not what it appeared.

Again, it was Microsoft's confusing way of telling us that the Office Live
product had been upgraded.

The product IDs are probably correct for your accounts that DON'T give the
error message, and I am optimistic that you'll get hold of support if you're
patient (I hate being patient, too...) I still think the problem is that the
system THINKS you have a "free" account.

It is not a free account, but all efforts to contact support have failed.
