Outlook Connector & Calendar reminders

B

Bryan

I'm running the latest Outlook Connector with Outlook 2007 on Vista Ultimate.

When a reminder pops up for sometime in the future, and I dismiss it, it
keeps popping up - over and over again. When Send/Receive occurs, I get the
reminder pop-up. These events are recurring events and I've edited them and
saved them - hoping that doing so will "reset" or re-write the event and
correct the problem. It hasn't.

I don't know what to do. I've researched the error and the only solution I
can find is to increase memory/pagefile (which I've done). I suspect that
the reminders will stop once the date of the event passes Jan31, but I'm
unable to dismiss them early apparently with the Outlook Connector. I guess
that's functionality that was overlooked or simply doesn't work.

Where did you hear that pagefile fixed reminder problems? The fix normally
is to open outlook using the /cleanreminders switch but I'm not sure if it
works with the connector acct.

Oops, I got the two problems I'm encountering mixed up. The memory
prognosis was for the 0x80070057 Parameter error. I just Googled that error
and found several references to memory..

I wasn't aware of the cleanreminders switch.. Can I just to to Start/Run
and type Outlook.exe /cleanreminders ?

It didn't work. I'm still getting the popup reminders every time there's a
Send/Receive.

My experience so far with this is that they won't go away until the date of
the event passes. Effectively the "Dismiss" button doesn't dismiss
reminders from Outlook Connector accounts.

So what next?

Thanks

This issue could very well be related to your send/receive issues you posted
in another thread as the dismissed reminders can never tell the on-line
calendar that they have been dismissed. Solving the send/receive issue might
solve this issue as well.

I have the same problem.
My calender always says that the sync has failed when doing send/receive.
The reminders will for some recurring events keep popping up, but not for
all of them, and newer for non recurring events.

I have set my live account as the default data file in outlook, and is also
syncing that calender with my WM5 smartphone using WMDC over bluetooth, and
in that sync all recurring events is synced two ours wrong, so events
starting at 8 am in outlook and live will start at 10 am on WM.

I'm using it as the default but not syncing with a device which may acct for
why I can't repro problems. Many times reminders are an issue when syncing
and unless you dismissed them on both outlook and the device, they get
reset. You may be able to correct this by changing the sync options in
active sync.

The time diff is caused by differences between the time zone and DST
settings on outlook and the device.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. Here's what I know:

1. Issue began after installing the latest version of Outlook Connector
(12.0.6414.1000).
2. Neither snoozing or dismissing an event reminder works. The reminder
continues to fire for some amount of time (don't know how long or why it
stops).
3. I have reported the issue to the Outlook Connector bug site, and the
Outlook site and received no response.
4. I've uninstalled both Outlook and Connector and re-installed both and the
issue persists.
5. The /cleanreminders switch suggestion does not work.

I believe it's a bug in the Outlook Connector that MS has not acknowledged.
Still hoping for a solution soon. Good luck.

I was able to stop the reminders by disabling by going to alerts.live.com --> Your alerts and turning alerts off for Windows Live Calendar.
I then went back and re-enabled the Windows Live Calenar alerts and have not recieved the old reminders thus far. If they return I'll just turn off Live Calendar alerts.
I found this by configuring Windows Live Mail. Going to Calendar --> Menus (Alt+M) --> Deliver my reminders to... This will direct you to alerts.live.com.

Hope this helps.

My experience so far with this is that they won't go away until the date of
the event passes. Effectively the "Dismiss" button doesn't dismiss
reminders from Outlook Connector accounts.

So what next?

Thanks
Bryan

This issue could very well be related to your send/receive issues you posted
in another thread as the dismissed reminders can never tell the on-line
calendar that they have been dismissed. Solving the send/receive issue might
solve this issue as well.

It's not a common occurrence with the connector and a live acct as mine works

works correctly, the reminder is not firing until its scheduled time.

Are you using Vista x64?

I have the same problem.

Vista Bussiness SP1
Newest Outlook connector
Newest WMDC
Office 2007 SP1
everything is fully updated using microsoft update

I'm using it as the default but not syncing with a device which may acct for
why I can't repro problems. Many times reminders are an issue when syncing
and unless you dismissed them on both outlook and the device, they get
reset. You may be able to correct this by changing the sync options in
active sync.

The time diff is caused by differences between the time zone and DST
settings on outlook and the device.

RE: Outlook Connector & Calendar reminders

Good luck.
