Anyone know the best way to backup all the outlook folders? ie. Mail,
Calandar, Tasks and Notes.

Thanks Russ!! I don't know why then that MS makes such a big deal over it.
All that you need to do I think is "export" the "Personal Folder File (.pst)"
and save it in a back up file or another sort of removable storage. Correct?

The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:

No. There is no reason whatsoever to export. That will lose data.
You copy the PST file in Windows Explorer after you exit Outlook completely.

Hi,
I'm trying to BACKUP my E-Mail files (outlook.pst & archive.pst) using The
Windows Backup Wizard under Accessories/System Tools. I am using a CD-RW
disk in my D:\ drive and I am getting this error message: "The Backup File
name could not be used"
D:\backup02-12-07.bkf
"Please ensure it is a valid path,
and that you have sufficient access"
Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something incorrectly.
Thanks,
Dom Cardamone

Have you formatted the disk?

With WIndows XP (or Vista, I presume), there's no need to use any tool other
than Windows Explorer to back up your PSTs. Just copy them to the CD while
Outlook is closed. If you have another Windows version, just use your
burning software to put a copy on the CD.

Make sure you test the burned copy before assuming you're finished. Copy it
back to HD, remove the read-only attribute, and open it with Outlook to make
sure its data is intact.
