Outlook (and Word) could not create work file....

I saw this question answered through a link to a solution on another
site...and though that may be effective for someone who is a systems admin, I
am just a user that needs a bit more direction.

The whole message is "Outlook could not create work file. Check temp
environment variable."

Using Office Professional 2007 with Business Contact Manager on Vista
Utimate platform on a Lenovo X61Tablet PC...@ 30 days old.

This message started in both Word and Outlook the other day. Though I am
uncertain the cause, it happened about the time the add-in for Office to
create PDF and XPS file was not longer available...so I installed the add-in
from the Microsoft page.

Though I would hate to admit that I need my hand held on this one...I think
a little step by step may be what I need.

I deleted 4 pictures and 1 zip file from the temp location. Result is no
different as I continue to get the same pop-up message in Outlook and Word.

Next?

Does it work when you launch Outlook in Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

If it works in Outlook Safe Mode then it is very likely an issue caused by
one of your addins. Disable them all and enable them one by one to find the
culprit.
