Outlook 2007 takes a really long time sorting my -email

I upgraded from Office 2003 to 2007 and love it but one big issue:

When I start Outlook it almost freezes for a few minutes as it downloads
e-mail and then sorts them into the various categories I have set up (around
30). During this whole process I cannot access Outlook and just have to wait
even after in says 'Download Complete'. This can take ten minutes when I have
100+ e-mails.

With the previous version I could access Outlook whilt it was downloading.

I would be really grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks you.

Installed Service Pack 2 for Office 2007 already? It contains various
performance updates which have been released since the launch of Outlook
2007. You can get it via Windows Update.

Thanks I am now installing and will let you know how it goes - I guess that
this was a known problem?

Yes, performance issues had been addressed several times (pre-SP1, in SP1
and pre-SP2). With SP2 it seems that all performance issues are gone and
Outlook is faster than previous versions.
