Outlook 2007 Sends thousands of messages

When I hit the Send/Receive button, I see in the 'sending message' box
thousands of messages being sent. The only way to stop it is Alt/Control/Del
and kill Outlook. Did something take control and turn my computer into a
zombie machine? Would really appreciate any help.

Do you have Outlook set to keep a copy of the message in sent items? If you
look there, wha tdo you show?

My sent items folder shows only the legitimate mail I sent. Another thing,
It sends my email last. All those thousands process first. If I interupt it,
it doesn't send mine.
