Outlook 2007 jpg issue

Hello,

Operating System: Windows XP SP3
Client: Outlook 2007 SP1
Server: Exchange 2007 Sp1

This does not seem to affect other users in the office with the same
signatures.

When one user sends an email with a jpg, gif, etc attached as either part of
the signature or in the email the email will bounce back

#550 5.6.0 M2MCVT.StorageError; storage error in content conversion # #

I believe this occures because it tries to convert the email into a
different format and send, but the jpg file is preventing that conversion
causing an error.

I've seen descriptions of it being converted to winmail.dat ??

This occures only if the email is displayed in html format. For now I have
made a work around by changing the file format to rtf and the email sends
fine.

I have converted the file to a bmp and the file will send without issues,
but asking the user to change all files to bmp is not a solution.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Walter Beach

On this user's machine, open REGEDIT
Start | Run | enter regedit | OK

Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gif
What is the data in the Default value? How about in the Content Type value?
Check this for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpeg. What data
is set for the values there?

Hello Patrick,

The values are

gif:

Default: giffile
Content Type: image/gif

..jpg

Default Nikon.CaptureNX.jpeg
Content Type Jpeg FIle

..jpeg

Default Nikon.CaptureNX.jpeg
Content Type jpeg File

I compared them to another machine and changed them to match that machine
and it is working now.

Thank you
