I'm running Windows XP. I can send and receive text only e-mails. I'm using
Outlook Express 6 and Pegasus 4. With either e-mail program I cannot send an
e-mail with a jpg or a gif attachment. The same picture file in bmp format
will go OK. File size is not the issue as a large bmp file will go but small
jpg or gif files will not. I'm using Earthlink as an ISP, and using their
Web E-mail on their web site the jpg and gif attachments go OK. Help!!!

What error or other behavior do you get when you do try to send it?

Note that this is an Microsoft Office Outlook forum.

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
family.

Thanks for the link to the Outlook Express forum. Actually, I also use
Outlook
and have the same problem there. My Outlook version is part of Office 2000.
I'm replying on a different computer as the problem also appears when I
attempt
to reply while including text from a previous message. Here is the text of a
typical error message:

"A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Subject 'test',
Account
'mail.earthlink.net', Server, 'mail.earthlink.net', Protocol SMTP, Port 25,
Secure
(SSL), No, Error Number 0x800CCC19.

Does it also happen when you use Outlook in safe mode?
Start-> Run; "path to outlook.exe" /safe

You also might want to reset the modem/router; this helps in some cases as
well :)
