I have both Word 2007 and Word 2010 on my computer. When I open up an attachment that is a Word document, it opens up in Word 2007. In doing so, it takes a significant amount of time (it goes thru a "configuration process.") each time.

What can I do so that the document opens up in Word 2010? What can I do so it does not go thru this configuration process?

I have Excel 2010 on my computer. When I open up an Excel document, it opens up immediately.

Would appreciate any help to eliminate this annoyance.

Uninstall Word 2007 from the control panel?

I thought of doing that but when I review the Control Panel listing, I see Office 2007. I am afraid that if I attempt to UNINSTALL it, the Outlook program will be uninstalled, and if so, I cannot install it again since I am away for the summer and do not have the disc.

(e-mail address removed) laid this down on his screen :

RightClick a .DOC file, Open With ... (choose Word2010), Check "Always

use the selected program to open this kind of file".

Didn't you try that?

Bruno

No, I did not try as you suggest. When I right click the document, I do not see that option.
