Outlook 2007 April Hotfix Problem

After installing the recent Outlook hotfix, my Rules are not working properly.
I have numerous rules that move incoming email from my inbox to specific
folders. Now, instead of moving those emails, it is copying the emails to the
other folder. As a result, I have 2 copies of emails - one in the inbox and
another in the appropriate folder. This was not happening before.

Is there a change in the rules that I have to make to correct this behavior?
I have reviewed the rules and they appear to be correct.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Steve

When you defined the rule, did you use the stop processing more rules rules
action. This ensure that two or more rules don't act on the same message.

Yes, I have stop processing more rules checked.

Again, this was working fine before the hotfix and is not working since.

One more thing: When I manually run the rules, they all work properly. The
problem only happens on new incoming mail.

What hotfix did you apply and/or does the problem stop once you uninstall
the hotfix?

S

No, because I was not having problems with the listed issues.

But I will install it if you think it will help.

Thanks.

OK. I installed the 967688 hotfix but it still continues to copy the email
from the inbox to the other folder resulting in 2 copies of the same email.

Any other suggestions?

Nope because I can't think of a way of duplicating it and you applying the
second update brings you up to the same level of code I'm using in regards
to Outlook 2007.

Out of curiosity, do you have a 3rd party addins that integrate with
Outlook? (e.g. Antivirus, Antispam, Fax, PDA, .etc)

S

sbudaj

The only 3rd party add in is ESET NOD32 Antivirus. Other than that, no other
add ins.

Just to make things worse, I applied the patches to another computer running
Outlook and have the same issue. Copying emails instead of moving them. This
is very weird.

Do you use the e-mail scanning portion of NOD32 or do you install it w/out
this piece? or better to ask, is your second machine configured like the
first and/or can you temporary uninstall NOD32 to see if the issue stops?

The only other thing I can think to ask is... are you working with a POP3,
IMAP, Exchange, or some other type of account?

I have the antivirus program scanning incoming and outgoing email. But it was
doing this before without any problem. I will see if disabling this makes any
difference.

I am working with IMAP email.

You may n4eed to do more than simply disable the scanning. You may need to
cimpletely uninstall the AV program and reinstall it without the mail scanning
feature. Many AV programs don't "get out of the way" unless you do.

Just wondering why the AV program would have anything to do with it since it
was working fine before. Nothing changed other than applying the hotfixes.

You mean you never update your AV software?

There is a couple of changes in the hotfix to give better startup
performance and I'm wondering if this is enough to confuse NOD32. Hence the
request to temporarily uninstall to see if your rules work as expected.
