Outlook 2007 and temporary .pst files

Is there something new about 2007 with regard to the creation of .pst temp
files? I use a synchronization program for transferring my office files to an
external USB thumb drive and I started noticing the tmp files. Do they
eventually disappear on their own or is there something else going on here? I
never used to see these tmp files before after Outlook was shut down.

That's indeed new. They usually only show during the send/receive process or
some other write operation. They will disappear directly after that or when
you close Outlook.
