Outlook 2007 and normal.dot

It is my understanding the Outlook 2007 no longer uses Word as it's email
editor. Does this mean that we won't have issues with normal.dot being
"tied" up with Outlook? If so, all I can say is YES!

Outlook actually does use Word as editor by default. If you don't have Word
installed, it still uses a "stub" form of Word as editor that is integrated
into Outlook.

According to Sue Mosher, it does NOT use normal.dotx.
The template that Outlook uses for mail is NormalEmail.dotx not Normal.dotx.
she said that you can open it and edit it directly in Word but I have not
tried to do that yet..

How can i change setting so that outlook use Normal.dotx instead of
NormalEmail.dotx for composing new mail

I don't believe that's configurable. Unless Outlook creates the template
every time (I haven't checked), you could configure Normal.dotx and
overwrite NormailEmail.dotx.
