Outlook 2007 Adress Book using contacts folder

I imported my contact list from excel. Everything is fine except I cannot
seem to add or edit the categories I have set up for the contacts in my
outlook address book

You'll have to clarify what you mean. It's no wonder you're having some
problems. You never edit Contact data from the address book view.
State precisely what you are doing, what isn't happening that you think
should, and your Outlook version.
