I have a Compaq Presario 1720us laptop computer with MSFT Windows XP which I have kept updated via the on-line MSFT update site.
Last week I bought OUTLOOK 2003 to replace my MSFT OUTLOOK 2000; now I cannot send or receive e-mail. After loading OUTLOOK 2003, I registered the software on-line with MSFT. I received the "Thank you" from MSFT about purchasing the software and registering it. But then when I attempted to use it, I can't send/receive e-mail. And I can't even restore the older OUTLOOK 2000 version.
My laptop and all other software was bought at Best Buy in Kennewick, Washington
I'm a photographer with a high resolution digital camera and I use the laptop to download my photos and burn backup CDs. It’s worked great for more than two years. We have traveled across this country in each of the last two years and we will do so again this summer and fall. I can always find a Best Buy when on the road and at home.
I have taken the laptop loaded with OUTLOOK 2003 back to Best Buy three times last week; they have now given up and told me to contact MSFT. I told them that if MSFT can't solve the problem, I want my $102.00 back. But then, how do I recover my old OUTLOOK 2000? The young man who has been working on the problem is obviously very good and very, very patient. So am I ...until now
I have an older desktop DELL computer with Windows ME that is used only for processing my digital photos and finalizing the filing. For the past two years, I had never let the DELL go online; my photos were transferred via the CDs created on the laptop. There is no direct hard wire connection between the laptop and the desktop
In desperation this week, I saved all the critical photos that were on the DELL desktop and I then loaded the older OUTLOOK 2000 software on the DELL in an attempt to get my e-mailing working again while Best Buy was working on the laptop. It did NOT work and so I tried the old MSFT OUTLOOK Express on the DELL desktop ...which does work. But I have over 1300 addresses and other information stored in OUTLOOK 2000 files. I have an OUTLOOK data file that contains my to-do list, my contacts, my calendar, etc. I have been able to get the older OUTLOOK 2000 loaded and working off-line on the DELL desktop ...BUT it will not send/receive any e-mail. I now do my e-mailing via OUTLOOK Express on the DELL desktop and exporting the e-mail to OUTLOOK 2000 on the DELL desktop. To try and protect the DELL, I have now installed NORTON and updated Windows ME through the MSFT update site.
But I need to e-mail with my laptop when we're on the road. So, I unloaded OUTLOOK 2003 from the Compaq laptop and reinstalled the older OUTLOOK 2000 ...but it doesn't work and neither does the old OUTLOOK Express on the laptop. An error message appears saying that MSOE.DLL is missing. But the Best Buy computer specialist says that the file is there in the proper location.
The only e-mail I can receive/send is with the OUTLOOK Express on the old DELL desktop. I have no problems in getting on the web with either computer. I've stripped all the photos and software off both computers until this problem is fixed. Neither OUTLOOK 2000 or OUTLOOK 2003 can send/receive e-mail on either computer
The new OUTLOOK 2003 version does not work on the Compaq laptop or the DELL desktop; and now the older OUTLOOK 2000 version does not work on either computer. Until I updated my laptop OUTLOOK 2000 to OUTLOOK 2003 all was working great. For the past two years, I had never let the DELL go on the web until now. Now I only have e-mail service via OUTLOOK Express on the DELL desktop.
I’ve notified MSFT update about this problem …but NO response
And Best Buy has given up.
