my ISP tell me this is a microsoft problem


Task 'pop.mail.yahoo.com - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook
is unable to connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue
to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet
service provider (ISP).'

Do you have a paid-for Yahoo account?

Yes Gordon I do have a paid yahoo account and I have verizon dsl which
provides me with the ability to bring my yahoo mail into Outlook. The Outlook
works fine when I first fire up the computer inporting my yahoo mail, my
verizon mail and my hotmail mail. After a while for a reason I cannot
determine I get this message and then have to reboot to get the Outlook to do
what it is supposed to do. It has worked fine for about 5 years and now this.

I've been having an almost identical problem since an upgrade from Norton
Antivirus 2005 to 2007 crippled our computer. I reinstalled 2005 and all the
problems went away, but this one started. For us, the first user on the
machine can get their e-mail, but every subsequent user gets this message.
Symantec's tech support says it is a Microsoft problem (even though the
problem goes away if I remove Antivirus protection completely). I hope you
find an answer. (We use a local ISP - cfu.net)

You should be able to use Norton AV 2007 provided you install it without the
mail scanning feature. Your brain and the on-access scanner will keep you
safe.

Brian -

I was not having e-mail problems with NAV 2007, but I was having so many
OTHER problems that it wasn't worth keeping. If you upgraded from 2005 to
2007 and it's working for you, I'm happy for you.

I wouldn't ever use a Symantec product.
