outlook 2003 with sp3 office attachments become html files

Hello,

In Outlook 2003 with SP3, many of my office attachments such as doc, ppt
have become replaced by dummy html links. For example, abc.doc.html
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Does the link take you to the saved file or does the attachment just have
the wrong extension?

Do you use an antivirus scanner on your incoming email?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we do have anti-virus protection on both exchange
& the desktop.

The link never takes me to the original file.
The only way I have seen which recovers the
original file is when I forward the original
mail, then when the forwarding pane is opened,
I can grab the original file from the attachment.

The link itself is 1K or less in size, so if
I save out the link file I have a useless HTML
page and changing the extension just means I
cannot automatically open the HTML.
