Outlook 2003 - will not open

The messages received were - Outlook cannot run add-in, cannot install
necessary files due Windows installer Error 1605. This action is only valid
for products that are currently installed. Event ID 2002 - mof outlook
service. When Outlook is opened, it asks for Safe mode Yes or No but will
not continue on after answering this question and must be ended by using Task
Manager. We have uninstalled/repaired/reinstalled Office and Outlook but the
problem still occurs. Checked Addin directories to clear out any addin
programs but the directories are empty. Recently Windows Updates were
installed on this laptop and Office updates have been installed. What would
you suggest to do to fix this issue other than possibly rebuilding this
laptop which may still not fix the problem?

Thank you.

I will try the suggestions listed below. I will comment that creating a new
profile did not work in this situation.

I found the answer was going to Help - About Microsoft Outlook - checked
disabled items - I found a disabled Synchronization addin and enabled it.
After closing Outlook and reopening Outlook the issue went away.

Thank you for your response.
