Outlook 2003 Update and Appledouble

J

Jeff W.

Since installing KB945432, users have been unable to view jpg attachments
sent from Mac users (Entourage) attached as appledouble attachments. If the
Mac users send the attachments using the "Windows Compatible/64" option we
are able to view. This only happens with users where KB945432 was installed.

My questions are: Is this a known issue? Will there be an update to this
KB? Is there an easy work around other than uninstalling the KB update or
changing the behavior of the Mac users?

We've encountered the same problem in our organisation. Going to block
KB945432 in wsus and hope ms fixes this.

We can open the files over OWA.. This is pretty mindboggeling.
I'm not sure it's only files from macs, but havn't been able to exatly
pinpoint the cause.

Same problem here - SOOO glad I found this post. I was at the point of
reloading the OS trying to find a solution, let alone a cause of the problem.
We had a similar problem in the past, Mac users running Entourage weren't
able to send a JPG to a Blackberry user, as the Blackberry wasn't able to
preview the JPG. Hopefully this will address that issue as well!

Still haven't seen a resolution. Happening with other file types: eps, pdf.
My Mac users are loving this. Before someone says, "those are all Adobe
files", Let me reiterate, if I uninstall KB945432 - everything is fine.
That isn't a resolution. At least acknowledge and post a "we're working on
it".

Talked to MS Pro Support, and they confirm there is a bug with this hotfix,
but no solution atm. He said they would proberly introduce a fix over the
next month or so :(

That is not good news. I have a support incident with MS too. They only
said that they see that others are having a similar problem.

I had the same issue after pushing KB945432 patch to over 2000 computers. I
contacted Microsoft Premier Support and they provided me a new Outlook.msp
file through email only. The KB that the msp file was in was KB951678 which
is not available through download. This new KB fixed the issue. Contact
Microsoft support and ask them if they can send you the new patch.

This is awsome news Rob, I was promissed an update from MS when they fixed
this, but havn't heard anything yet. Just ordered the hotfix now, and if I
don't write again you can assume it solved my problem :)
