Outlook 2003 smtp send mail problem

I

Ian

Hello there, and thank you for taking the time to consider my
following problem:

We are running Outlook 2003 with an SMB/Ecchange Server 2000.
Presently I am unable to send mail on SMTP on one of two accounts
configured in Outlook.

On Outlook, I have two mail accounts configured, one exchange account
for corporate use, and one personal pop3/smtp account on my
sympatcio.ca ISP. I can send and receive exchange mail without
difficulty, and I can receive pop3 mail without difficulty.

Sending smtp mail on my ISP however, does not happen as it appears
that exchange intercepts it first and sets the "from" accoringly. In
creating messages, I have tried setting the "From" field to my
sympatico email account before sending the message however when the
message is viewed by the recepient, the sender is showing as my
exchange account.

I have also tried to separate the two accounts into two separate mail
groups, however it seems that I cannot include the outbox for both
mail groups. More specifically, I cannot include the outbox for the
sympatico email group, so no mail is sent at all for this group.

The sympatico email account has been configured and tested. The test
generates an email message, which I succesfully receive with the
"from" field set properly to my sympatico account.

After searching for clues in the postings, I cannot seem to find a
resolution to what seems like a simple problem to fix. Has anyone
experienced anything like this, or is able to point me in the right
direction.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Ian

There is one issue that the MVPs/MS is aware that could cause Outlook to
jump to the next account to send a message. Can you turn on diagnostic
logging, duplicate the issue, and then post the OPMLog?

PS - What raises this bug is that the SMTP throws back a 550 error and
Outlook just motors to the next account. Generally you have to authenticate
to the SMTP server in order to send.

PSS - On second thought, do not post the OPMLog unless you have applied SP1
for Office/Outlook 2003. There is a condition in which your userid and
password could be exposed in the OPMLog.
