Outlook 2003 Rules problem has me stumped.

Hi all -

I have set up a few rules on my inbox in Outlook 2003, and I'm
experiencing a strange problem. Not only do the rules not work when
new mail comes in--I can't get the rules to run on demand, either.

I have set up three rules, but when I go to Tools->Rules and Alerts-
Run Rules Now, no rules are are available for selection in the
"Select rules to run:" box.

I have used rules in the past, and run them manuallly. Moreover these
are simple, simple rules that should be running without a problem.

Is there some sort of registry key or setting that I need to change to
enable rules?

Thanks in advance,

-Mark

Hi Bill -

These are brand new rules. I just created them, not imported them.

Is there some extra step I would need to perform to rebuild them?

Thanks in advance,

-Mark

I am having this exact same problem, Mark did you find a solution or anyone
else can help?

I have tried the solutions above but no luck.

I too am experiencing problems with Rules in Outlook 2003. there seems to be
quite a few people talking about the problem, but no solution from Microsoft.
I found some info about conflicts with using Exchange server, but nothing
about why rules won't work on a stand-alone machine.

My problem is the rules work intermittently. Sometimes they stay in the
Inbox or they randomly go to the correct folder or a different folder all
together. I have a CS degree, and so I understand the logic statements, but
there is something strange going on behind the scenes in Outlook!

We'd have to know exactly what your rules say and have examples of messages
that appear to fail and that succeed before we could decide what's wrong.
