outlook 2003 restore pst files

After rebooting my computer and trying to reopen Outlook, it asked for a new
profile, saying I had none created. I have found 3 pst files from that same
date and time: one is ARCHIVE at about 1.2 meg; another is OUTLOOK at about
2.7meg; and the third is OUTLOOK2 at only 265k. I assume the third is a new
one I started at that prompot, so I am concluding I need to re-instate the
2.7meg file. How do I do that?
What could I have done to create this problem?

Use the Mail appet in Control Panel. Click Data Files and add the 2.7MB PST
to your mail profile.

Any number of things.

No it won't overwrite anything.

OK. I did a new profile but did not create the email accounts. I was able to
open the old pst files and get the old emails back up. However, the profile
did not come with the file, so do I need to re-create all 5 of my email
accounts or is there a way to import them over?

No it doesn't. Only if you click Show Profiles>Add will it add a new profile.
If simply click Data Files instead, you can add a data file to the current
default profile.
