I have two email accounts and Outlook 2003 worked flawlessly until I loaded
the new version of Symantec's SystemWorks 2006. My system immediately began
giving me a lot of trouble and none of my Microsoft software would open
correctly. I removed the Symantic stuff and ran the Office Install Disk and
Reinstalled Office 2006 and everything returned to normal except for Outlook
2003. It gives a check mark for sending mail but times out when receiving.
I talked to my ISP and they whent through an entire process to help me
reinitialize my email account but the symptoms didn't change. I've reloaded
Outlook twice since then, gone to the Microsoft Office homepage and did
everything suggested there. How can I get Outlook working again? I just
can't live with the limitations of the email home site software for either of
my accounts.

I tried to do it with exactly the same results, Outlook still couldn't
establish a connection and, in addition, when outlook exits it leaves an
active 7 meg process active in the task manager that I can't close using End
Process or with End Process Tree.

My ISP Tech Service rep. had me create a new profile, delete and re-create
the email account, change my email address at their end, re-initialize my
modem and nothing worked. The problem is with Outlook and i have tried so
many things to fix the problem that now my Office disk loads are exhausted
and it won't let me initialize the software any more. This really sucks, all
because I wanted to upgrade my antiviris software.
