Outlook 2003 outgoing mail.

I have a new computer with windows XP home edition. I have Outlook 2003 and
Outlook Express. I chose Outlook 2003, but when I send mail, it stays in my
outbox. It was recommended to check for COM Add-Ins. I don't understand
what I need to do to correct this problem. I called Dell support and they
checked to make sure I had all my settings correct in Outlook and adivsed me
to contact Microsoft.

does it stay in the outbox when outlook is open? if so, do you have an
antispam program scanning outgoing email?

On your menu bar in Outlook, click Tools ->Options. In Options, you have
choices on how Outlook will handle sending/receiving email messages. If you
don't have the automatically send/receive marked, then Outlook will hold your
outgoing messages in your Outbox until you manually tell it to send all
messages. Personally, I prefer to have Outlook hold my messages until I tell
it to send them, but if you aren't a control freak <smile>like me, then you
might want to have Outlook automatically send/receive.

The problem with how Outlook handles the automatic sending/receiving is that
they have the two options connected. There is no place where you can tell
Outlook to just automatically send any message you write. The only option is
to automatically send/receive. I don't want to automatically receive.
Manually, however, you can just send. There is a button on your standard
toolbar that is labeled Send/Receive. If you click on the small arrowhead on
the right of that button, you will see an option to just send all...
