Outlook keeps sending repeat copies of already-sent mails

I was delighted when my new home Dell PC was installed to find I could link
my Hotmail account so I could use Outlook 2003 (with which I am familiar from
my work) for emails. However, embarrassingly, despite succesfully using
Outlook via Hotmail for the first few mailings, I now have to avoid opening
Outlook entirely - because one particular message is stuck in my Outlook
Outbox, and every time I open Oulook it sends it again to the same (now very
weary) contact. Must have sent it about 30 times, but it still sits in my
outbox as unsent mail, and I cannot delete it, manage it, prevent it from
re-sending automatically.

HELP!

In Outlook, click File and check Work Offline. Stop and restart Outlook.
Delete the message. Click File and uncheck Work Offline.
