Outlook 2003 mail stays in outbox

Outlook 2003... Messages sent from new messages go to
outbox and stays until "Send Received" is hit a second
time. I have set up a second PC with identical setting and
all works fine ( mail clears outbox on first send). Both
PCs are XP pro, SP1, Office 2003, SP1, Norton antivirus 2003, POP3 dial up
connection to ISP. Any ideas or docs appreciated

I have the same problem - it sometimes takes several hits on the
Send/Receive button to get it sent.

I have found that if I first go to "Accounts" and click on my account - the
message will send OK.

The annoying part is that the problem is inconsistent - some days it is OK.

I am hoping to figure out why on PC has this issue and a second configured
the same does not. I have this outbox issue with several clients.
