Outlook 2003 All mail is being sent but not transferred to Outbox

I have had MS Outlook 2003 (as part of MS Office Professional 2003) installed
since I installed MS Vista business. I had not problems until about 3 months
ago.

When I send a new e-mail message it is transferred from drafts to Outbox
(can view the message line as bold Italic text). When the transferred to my
ISP has completed the bolding and Italics are removed but the message stays
in the Outbox.

When I attempt to drag the message(s) from the Outbox to the Sent Items I
obtain message "Can't move the Items."

When I attempt to right click and "Move" the message I receive the message
"The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists restart Outlook."

Whilst I am not loosing any messages I now have an Outbox with 366 messages
in.

What is the problem and what can I do have Outlook 2003 function the way it
did with XP for 2-3 years and with Vista for nearly a year? Namely to have
the messages transfer from the Outbox to the Sent Items when they have been
delivered to my ISP

Help Please

Thats not the way it goes, when you send a mail, in outlook, it goes to the
outbox, then outlook does its send/recieve and if successfull moves to the
sent Folder.
If you create a new mail, then save it only, its deposited in Drafts, if you
the open that mail and click the send Btn on that mail window, its sent to
the Outbox, where it remains until the automatic send/receive settings take
over, and its moved to sent, or you manually send now.
Try running an Outlook Detect/Repair.

If however you know these msgs have actually been sent, and received by the
recipients, apart from the Outlook repair, you might want to uninstall any
anti virus application you have that is intergrated with outlook.

DL, many thanks for taking the time to reply

I am absoluteley sure all the messages have been sent & received by the
intended recipients

I have run SCANPST numerous times
I have run Detect and Repair numerous times
I have run MS OFFICE 2003 Repair
I am using Norton Internet Security, current level with 2 hourly updates. I
have used Norton for some 6 years now and never had a problem with it. Are
you suggesting that I run with my computer unprotected against viruses?

What I am suggesting is that you run Outlook without the AV intergration.
AV intergration with outlook is a cause of many issues, and if you have a
decent AV its not neccessaary to intergrate it with Outlook, as its real
time scanning engine will pick up anything nasty you attempt to run from a
msg.
Unfortunately disabling the Intergration, which you can usually do from your
AV control panel, frequently leaves AV hooks in outlook. Its better to
completely remove the AV, reboot the system, then reinstall the AV without
the Outlook intergration.
PS I ran Norton also for many years untill I had a problem that their tech
could'nt resolve.
