Outlook 2003 Journal; tracking Word and Excel 2002 (or older) docu

How can I track Word and Excel 2002 documents in Outlook 2003 Journal?
Currently, I only have Office 2002 installed and Outlook seems to ignore this?

Quite a lot of functions rely on having matching version of Office products.
You will probably need Outlook 2003 to make that function work.

Interestingly I am having the same problem with Office 2003 & 2002, but our
compnay insists we use Access 97 and this is being picked up by Outlook?

Doesn't make a huge amount of sense!!
