Outlook 2003 downloads 2 copies of all attachments

Strangest thing. In the folder where Outlook puts attachments from incoming
emails, there is an original plus a copy of every attachment. Each copy is
named the same as the original with a (2) added. In addition to the
attachments, I think Outlook is downloading all incoming emails twice
although it is displaying just one. I say this because the progress indicator
will tell me that 8 emails, for example, are being downloaded but when the
process is finished only 4 appear in my In-Box (or junk mail folder).

Any ideas? I would love to solve this because downloading email always takes
twice as long as it should.

Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for taking time for this. Just one account shows under Tools>E-Mail
Accounts. In fact, yesterday I archived all my folders and deleted that
account just to start over. I created a new account (identical to my
original) and tested it by sending myself an attachment. Sure enough, Outlook
downloaded the attachment twice.

I think this goes back to when I first migrated from Eudora to Outlook
earlier this year. As an Outlook newbie I must have just set up something
wrong. My thinking now is that I should just remove and re-install Outlook.
Can that be done without deleting all of MS Office? Would you advise that?

Thanks for your time.
