I am having a problem receiving .jpg files attached to emails. I recently set
up Outlook 2003 to be my wife's email program. We often receive emails with
pictures attached in .jpg format. Instead of displaying the attachments in a
list, Outlook shows them as embedded pictures and says nothing about the .jpg
file. When we try to save the pictures, the only option offered is the .bmp
format. I tweaked some settings related to downloading pictures, and it
worked for a few days, and then reverted to the .bmp format. I use Outlook on
other computers and have no such problem as this. She is running Vista. Can
anyone help us set this up so we can receive the .jpg attachments?

Thanks, Peter

Peter,
Try deleting the temporary internet files in internet explorer.

In XP, there should be something similar if you are using Vista/Windows7:
Control Panel> Internet Options> General tab> Delete temporary internet
files> Check box to include offline content.

There was a similar problem with Outlook Express, having *,jpg files showing
up as *.bmp files a year or so ago I believe, and that was the fix mentioned
for OE..

That would be a good idea if only it emptied the Outlook Secure Temp folder,
but it doesn't. It can't hurt to try it, though.
