Outlook 2003 does not check for mail

O

Orrie

Hi,

I've noticed messages from people who can't stop Outlook from checking for
mail. My problem is just the opposite, Outlook 2003 does not check for mail
unless I manual click on Send/Receive. It does not automatically check for
mail on startup or once it's opened.

"Send and Receive immediately when connectected" is checked in Options/Mail
Setup.
(By the way, why can't Outlook have separate controls for Send and Receive
to give user maximum control?)

How can I have Outlook 2003 automatically check for mail?

Thank you.

You already have just about maximum control;

You can set the interval to check here
Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Setup-> button Send Receive

You can define send/receive groups there as well. Press the button Edit to
get your "maximum control"

Is there a firewall between the users and the mail server?

Yes, I use Zone Alarm, but Outlook 2003 has permission to send and receive.
There is no problem sending and receiving messages by clicking on the
Send/Receive button. It just doesn't receive mail automatically.

I also use Norton Anti-Virus 2003. I see from messages here that there are
some compatibility issues with NAV and Outlook.
