I'm running Windows Vista & Microsoft Office 2003. Recently I accidently deleted the backup.pst file in the apps/microsoft/outlook folder. I have tried recovering it with various recovery tools, but to no avail.

I have also tried uninstalling, then reinstalling Office 2003, but the file is not replaced. How can I download or create another file? I am unable to open Outlook at this time.

Thanks in advance....

Welcome to the forums, Rick :)

I'm not sure how you could re-create the file if you are unable to open Outlook. What error do you get when you try to open it?

Ian,

I seemed to have fixed it. I was getting "the file c:\users\rick\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook\backup.pst could not be found" & then I was asked to find it. Last time I did this I simply chose the "outlook.pst" file. This at least allowed me to open Outlook & I was able to create the "backup.pst" file afterwards.

Thanks very much for your help anyway....

No problem, I'm glad it's working for you now :)
