Outlook 2003 and news?

To make the Outlook 2003 your news reader it says in the help file:

Show All
Hide All
The first time you use the newsreader, you must add the News command to the
Go menu.

1.. Add the News command to the Go menu.
How?

1.. On the Standard toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options
that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, click Customize on
the Tools menu, and then click the Toolbars tab.), click the Toolbar Options
arrow .
2.. Point to Add or Remove Buttons, and then click Customize.
3.. Click the Commands tab.
4.. In the Categories list, click Go.
5.. In the Commands list, click News, and drag it, without releasing the
mouse, until it rests over the Go menu. When the menu displays a list of
commands, point to where you want the command to appear, and then release
the mouse.
2.. Click the Go menu, and then click News.
The thing is: I can see the news in the categori list. But when I close it
and go to Go menu, it is not there. Hmmm how do I get it to show up?

Apparently it's a bug, and there's a little trick to get it to work. First,
go to Control Panel | Internet Options, click the Programs tab, and make
sure Outlook Express is selected as the default Newsgroups program. If you
go back into Outlook at this point and look at your Go menu, you should see
the News command has reappeared. (If not, restart Outlook.) Next time you
open Outlook Express to read newsgroups, it may ask you if you want to make
it your default news client. If it does, check the "Do not ask me again"
box and then click the No button. You shouldn't have any more trouble
getting the News command in Outlook to stick.

Straightforward, huh? NOT! :)

OK, wait a minute. I just re-read your original post. Did you actually
drag the News command to the Go menu like the Help file told you to? Or did
you just assume that because the News command appears in the Categories
list, it will be on the Go menu already? The Categories list shows you the
*available* categories for the Go menu. If the News command isn't actually
showing on the Go menu when you exit the Customize dialog box, then you have
to go back into the Customize dialog and actually drag the News command onto
the menu.
