Outlook 2003 - 2 questions

Can anyone help me with the following please:

a. When I reply to an email, how can I make Outlook always default to HTML
format? At present, it appears to use the same format as the original email.
Outlook XP had an option to cover this, as I recall, but I can't find it in
Outlook 2003.

b. I have inserted a small logo jpg file in my signature, but it always pops
up as an attachment for recipients. Is there a way to embed such graphics in
signatures so that they do not appear as attachments?

Thanks,

V

You can't (and Outlook 2002 couldn't, either). Outlook always uses the
format of the original message. It's not that big of a hardship to click
Format>HTML, however.

Many thanks. I'll have a look at the how to webpage re signatures.

On the question of defaulting to HTML, I realise now it is the humble
Outlook Express and Windows Mail that provide this option.

You say it's not a big hardship to click Format>HTML but actually given how
many times a day one does it, I'm not so sure I agree with you. Also, don't
forget that manually changing the format does not change one's signature so
you also have to delete and reinsert the correct HTML signature. All quite a
palaver. Is there really no way round this?

If someone sends you a Plain Text message, wouldn't you think they do so for
a reason? Perhaps the mail client they use can't handle HTML or perhaps
they're security-conscious and don't want web bugs to be able to report
they've opened a message. My opinion is that it's polite to reply in the
same format the sender used. When I use a signature and change the format,
my signature changes and I use Outlook 2003 daily. I don't use Word as the
editor, though, so perhaps that's the difference.

No, there's no way around it that I'm aware.

Thanks. Can see the point you are making but still not sure I totally agree.
As you say, maybe the situation is compounded by using Word as the editor. I
expect one could automate a solution using a macro.
