Outlook 2002 with proxy server

I am working at a client where by internet access is coming by virtue of a
defined proxy server. However, Outlook 2002 does not seem capable of
operating in this environment, except offline. Send/Receive fails.

Does anyone know of a way to enable send/receive when using a proxy server?

Depends on whether or not there is a proxy client installed on the
workstation. For example, if the site is using Microsoft Proxy 2.0, then
there is a ini file on the workstation that needs to list the configuration
on how handle the POP/SMTP calls.

Keep in mind that if there is no proxy client on the workstation, that they
could have a firewall in place that doesn't allow workstations to connect to
the internet on ports 110/25. They do this to force employees to use their
established email configuration and servers. In any event, if you are a
contractor at a site, it would be best to ask the employer for the options
open to you to achieve your goal.
