outlook 2002 pst from outlook XP

I have Office/Outlook XP installed. I need to access an old .pst file that
was created with Outlook 2002.

I have tried all the tricks I have read about, but I get the same result:
"This file is not a personal favorites file."

I have tried to open the file from XP, tried to import it, removed the XP
pst and had it try using the 2002 version, but always the same.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
