I have two strange problems with Outlook 2002. If someone can help, I'd be
very grateful.

1. When responding to an email, or creating a new email, I click on "Send"
but the message doesn't go out until I click on "Send/Receive" at the top of
the screen. I don't know why this is so.

2. I send mail to various discussion lists. My gmail website shows that
the mail has gone to "sent mail" on the google server, but I don't see where
the posts have gotten to the lists. This has not happened when using Opera,
my previous choice for mail/news.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Set up automatic polling for mail in Mail Setup, Send Receive button. No less
than every 10 minutes to give servers time to reset.

See if this helps:
Tools menu > Options > Mail Delivery or Mail Setup tab > Check "Send
Messages Immediately"

I thought of this, but didn't want to get mail automatically at intervals.
Thanks for the idea, though.

Hmmm, does your machine poll for mail periodically? Do the messages get sent
then?

I don't have it set up to poll. And, frankly, since I'm on dial up, I
generally disconnect after reading and sending my mail.

I did stay on line earlier today for a few minutes to see if the Send
function was just taking some time. That didn't seem the problem.

What I need to do is to read my mail, compose my replies, and then click on
Send/Receive again to get the mail out of the outbox.

Hmm, try setting Outlook to use a LAN connection and let Windows handle the
dialing. When I was using dialup at home I used that configuration and it
worked pretty well.

Thanks, I'll give it a try!

Well, I tried it, and it didn't solve the problem.

One day I'll figure it out. Thanks for the help.
