Outlook 2000: Reducing large pst files!

Hi, I have exported a series of appointments from Outlook 2000 into a .pst
file. The file is unusually large (16MB) and I need to reduce the size of
this file.

The appointments contain attachments as images and text are included in the
appointments, but they are small files. I have run a few simple tests that
show that one appointment screen by itself (with no info in it), when
exported to a .pst file, is showing a file size of 48K!! How come?

I have tried to compact the file using Outlook advanced tools, but no
change. I have also tried to use a PST Manager software, which didn't work
either.

If anyone can shed some light as to how I can reduce the size of large .pst
files that contain appointments, that would be GREAT!!

Thank you.

16 MB is not unusually large for a PST, since PSTs in Outlook 2000 can grow
to 100 times that size.

Hi Brian, thanks for the response. I do however need to get this file size
down if possible, for a specific purpose.

Thanks

To reduce the size of a PST, the only option you have, if you want to retain
all the data, is to copy some of the data to another PST and then compact
the original. Doing so, however, can lead to the space taken by the two
PSTs togehter being more than the space taken by the original PST.
Otherwise, you can delete items from the original and compact it.
