Outlook 2000- Can receive but not send e-mails

I am trying to set Outlook up with a new account. I have
entered all of the information for the incoming and
outgoing mail servers. Now when I click the send/receive
button I get the following error message for the send task:

"Unable to connect to server. (Account: 'mail.xxxxx.com',
SMTP server: 'mail.xxxxx.com', Error Number: 08x800ccc0e).

I am able to receive my e-mail messages fromt the server.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

So what? The incomming and outgoing mail are transported by two totally
different servers. So the fact that one works does not and should not
in any way imply that the other will.

You have the incoming (receive) server ("POP" or "POP3" in most cases)
setup correctly, but you don't have the outgoing (send) server ("SMTP"
in most cases) setup correctly. The first rule is to double-check the
server name. The second thing that often causes problems is firewall
software.
