Outlook 07 does not launch properly from "Send To -> Email Recipie

Hi all, anyone seen this problem?

When I right-click Send To -> Email Recipient, Outlook.exe*32 along with
FIXMAPI*32 launch (I can see them in Task Manager) but no UI comes up, and
the processes don't terminate (not by themselves anyway).

If I try it with Outlook already running, then there is no problem.

Outlook is otherwise fine.

I went so far as to uninstall and reinstall Office 07 and this did not
change anything sadly. Any ideas?

(What the heck is FIXMAPI.EXE anyways???)

Thanks in advance
SS

Outlook wont/doesnt launch when you use 'send to' but an outlook msg window
should open, for you to fill in relevent details, then click send
The msg will be sent next time Outlook is opened (in the normal way)

An unistallation/reinstallation of Outlook or Office rarely cures a problem
An Office, or Outlook Diagnostics some times helps

What is meant by "outlook.exe*32" ? the outlook process is outlook.exe
It might mean that the wrong version of mapi32.dll is installed

Outlook.exe*32 is how Outlook appears in Task Manager because this is x64
Vista and Outlook is still a 32-bit app (nice, MS...)

Anyway just in case anyone else has this issue, I actually got a reply from
MS support (go figure) and merging the following reg keys in fixes the
problem (though they didn't explain it, the fact that they have a scripts for
the L1 techs tells me this is reasonably common...

--- make a *.REG file out of the below ---

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem]
"InstallCmd"="rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection MSMAIL 132 msmail.inf"
"MAPIX"="1"
"OLEMessaging"="1"
"MAPI"="1"
"CMC"="1"
"MAPIXVER"="1.0.0.1"
"CMCDLLNAME32"="mapi32.dll"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\MSMapiApps]
"inetsw95.exe"=""
"choosusr.dll"=""
"SearchProtocolHost.exe"="Microsoft Outlook"
"msnlExt.dll"="Microsoft Outlook"
"cnfnot32.exe"="Microsoft Outlook"
"scanost.exe"="Microsoft Outlook"
"scanpst.exe"="Microsoft Outlook"
"outlook.exe"="Microsoft Outlook"
