Send to Mail Recipient results in hanging outlook process

F

Franz

Hi,

If I use the "Send To -> Mail Recipient" Option from Explorers context
menu, Outlook 2007 is started in the background, but no window is
opened.

The command issued is "C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\Office12\OUTLOOK.EXE -
Embedding".

Then I have to kill the process.

If Outlook is already running, the "Send to -> Mail Recipient" is
working.

I changed the default mail program to Windows Live Mail and back to
Outlook 2007, but nothing changed.
I did already reinstall Office 2007... but it's the same again.
Outlook hangs if it's started through the "Send to" Option, even from
Internet Explorer (Send link by mail).

Thanks for help!

Regards,
Franz

I had the same problem with Outlook 2007 and Vista. Uninstalling Apples
Mobile Device Support (part of an Itunes install) fixed it.

Let me know if this works for you guys.

You are my hero!

How did you find this out?

Apples ITunes crashed my system after plugging on my iPod, Apples
iTunes did prevent sending mails... What does Apples iTunes do next?

I am currently thinking about throwing my iPod out of the window

Thanks again!

Well, it was an interesting diagnostic adventure. I didn't realize I even
had the problem until I installed a product called NovaPDF that is a PDF
print driver but can also email the PDF file after it is created.

I noticed the same problem you had, in that Outlook would not pop up if not
open already but was running in Task Manager.

I then found out that I couldn't right click and send any file if Outlook
was not running nor send from within Word.

My son had the same problem on his Vista PC so I knew it wasn't isolated to
my computer.

I image my C: drive regularly so I restored an image from August and sending
mail worked fine. I then restored a September image and in that one, Outlook
did NOT work. I looked at what programs had been installed recently in
Control Panel and noticed Itunes had.

I often uninstalled Apple's Mobile Support stuff in the past since I don't
have an iPhone, but this time I had forgotten, and so I uninstalled it, and
voila - Outlook worked again.

Pretty good, eh????

Be sure to have a backup ;-)

Thanks again!

.... and I did blame Microsoft for that...
