(OT) Windows 2000 upgrades????

Can't find an NG for Windows 2000,perhaps one of thew MVP's
has an answer?
I note on the MS site that the "roll up" service pack is the
last one.
Question.
Will this "roll-up" upgrade an original install of Win 2000
to the very last update or would I have to individually
install Sp1,Sp2 and Sp3 before the "roll up"?

I think a "roll-up" update only contains the updates since the last service
pack release.

SP 3 would contain all the service packs that preceded it.

So I think you should:

1) Install SP3.

2) Reboot

3) Install the roll-up.

4) Reboot.

You have to install the Service Pack, the Security Roll Up Package is a
post SP4 collection of fixes. You do not have to apply individual
service packs, service packs are cumulative, each new version includes
fixes from the older packs. The last Windows 2000 sevice pack is SP4,
install it first the the SRP.

DO NOT connect the unpatched computer to the internet without a properly
configured firewall! As installed Windows 2000 is EXTREMELY vulnerable
to worms and virus if not properly protected. These are what I would
consider as bare minimum on a new Windows 2000 installation:

You should also upgrade Internet Explorer to version 6 SP1:

I think you meant Windows 2000-SP4.

Yes, install the latest/last Service Pack and then the Roll-up update.
