OT Software to fill out forms

You would think that a standard 8x11 page would be standard now.

I got an application at Staples to join their club to save on ink.

I was thinking how many times I fill out my name and address.

It would be a simple task now for computers to scan a standard
application and allow you to print a template for the application. You
could then load the 8x11 into the paper feeder and have the software
fill in the application for you.

I don't think it would be unreasonable to have a standard area of page
applications for the name and address.

8x11 is only std for those that use it
There is no such thing as a std application
In order to have a std application all would have to use it, in the samne
format, and they dont

You already have that ability, it's called AutoComplete.

I think he means a software package to recognize any form you feed into a
scanner
to recognize the spacing and to automatically fill in the blanks, I think
this is a lot more complicated than you realize, and therefore will never
come about.
I personally hate to hand fill out forms, my handwriting is poor, due to a
benign tremor, so in order for people to read it, I prefer to use some type
of electronic typing, ie find the form online and use word or adobe so I can
type it in.
online is better as I use autocomplete alot, saves me mucho time.

That is what I am talking about. Think how many times you are asked
to enter your name address and phone number?

If "they" could at least agree to use a standard 8x11 piece of paper
to collect your information on, then "they" could maybe agree on a
single area of the form for your address.

Then, if nothing else, you could run any form through your computer to
fill out your address. They could then put their terms on the form
and find a place for your signature.

Then take it one step farther. Have software scan a form. You could
then use the software to "print" the information on a template you
create from the scan and then print it back to the original form. This
would allow you to fill in formation other than your name/address by
typing.

That sounds like reinventing the automobile so it
"works and looks" like a mechanical horse and carriage. Location on the
"page" is immaterial, and long as the "box" is identified as "name" or
"address" or "phone number", it is all merely data with a label. If
Autocomplete has it it can be used.

online form.
