OT? PC starts automatically, sometimes

Hi,

WIN XP H.E. - latest updates except IE 7

I'm still struggling with this one and only out of curiosity!

My PC is plugged into a Surge Protector. When I turn the power on at
the Surge Protector .......SOMETIMES ...my PC boots automatically, and
OTHER times I have to press the power button on my PC in order to
boot. It appears to be pure random, totally patternless.

Big question: So how's come? From what I can see, there's no entry in
the Bios concerning this particular step. Yet, every morning it's
anyone's guess: Auto Boot or Manual Boot when power is turned on.

Don't you wish you had my problems? Everything else is fine!

Properly noted by another, the 'wakeup on xxxx' function may be
enabled for a device that is not connected to that function. Noise on
this line could cause the power up. Disabling that function in BIOS
might eliminate the problem.

Meanwhile, this has nothing to do with the power supply. This may be
related to some other part of the power supply 'system' that is located
