operation failed

A not uncommon problem I think....having successfully set up my email account
in Outlook 2007, complete with successful sending and receipt of test message
as part of the set up process....

I attempt to send an email and get the "operation failed" message. No
explanation just *thunk*.

I have deleting and setting up new profile several times....same result.

Disabled virus checking....same result.

Any solutions that have been found?

Thanks in advance.

Do you get the same results when starting Outlook in Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

If not, it is most likely caused by an add-in. My guess would be the virus
scanner.
