Operation failed on mail setup send/receive

I am running MS Outllok 2002, SP3 on Wndows XP.

I am working on a computer that was dormant during the winter.

When I enter Tools - Send/Receive All, I get the message "Operation Failed"

When I go to Tools - Options - Mail Setup - Send Receive, I get the error
"Operation Failed"

The sysem seems to be sending and recvineg messages but I cannot determine
what accounts are being used.

I have reviewed all(5) e-mail accounts and all of them test satsifacorily
individually.

What do I do?

Close Outlook 2002/2003 and delete the send/receive group configuration file
from the hard drive. The *.srs file is found at:

\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

PS - Application Data is a hidden/system folder.
