Hi there.

I have a little quibble with the way Windows Explorer
opens. When I open it from the Start buttom menu it
always opens up with My Document being the focus folder,
by default. Yet when I use the shortcut keys Windows
button + E, it will open up with the focus folder on MY
Computer. This way is MUCH more perfered, as I LOATHE
Microsoft telling me where I should store "my documents".

My question/s are: Is there a way to tweak Windows
Explorer so it will ALWAYS, by default, be focused on a
particular folder when I open it?

And on a somewhat related note, I HATE how when I'm in
Word or Excel, or another Office program, and I go to
open a file, and again, focus is set to My Documents.

This isn't a big deal, it's just that it annoys the hell
out of me!!!

Can anyone help?

Griff

Oh, how I miss my Norton File manager in Win98, hate this explorer
crap.

Anyway, here's your answer, I found it when I was looking for the same
answer.

To change the start location for windows explorer:

Right click on the explorer shortcut icon and for the target put in
this:

C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\

You can change the C:\ to any place on your computer.
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,A:\
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\Program Files
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\My Documents
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\Windows
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,F:\
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,F:\Downloads
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,D:\

The possiblities are endless

If you right click that entry and take Properties, you can change the
location in the Target entry.make it
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e,/select,C:
and it will open in My Computer with C: selected in the right pane.. Or
you can have a folder there and have it open at the level above, with
that folder selected - eg
/select,C:\windows\system32
would open in C:\windows with system32 pre-selected
