By default, the Windows Explorer opens with its focus on My Documents,
which appears selected in the left pane and the contents of that
folder shown in the right pane.
My preference would be for it to open with two panes, with its focus
on My Computer, with the various drives shown below the My Computer
icon in the left pane, as well as in the right pane.
After studying Article No. 307856 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, I
changed the target on my Explorer shortcut to "C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE
/e,c:\". That accomplished part of what I sought, which was to open
on a drive rather than on My Documents, which I don’t generally use.
However, it opens with the C:\ drive icon expanded to show all of the
folders in C:\ in the left pane.
I can’t figure out how to open Explorer with two panes, and its focus
on My Computer, or on C:\ unexpanded, so that all of the other drives
appear immediately below it without any additional keystrokes. Can
anybody tell me how to accomplish this?
